Scholarships are vital to the success of many students at Irvine Valley College. Each year, IVC awards hundreds of scholarships to students, some of whom are continuing their education at IVC, and some who are transferring to four-year universities and will take their scholarships with them to their transfer institution.
This year, IVC awarded a record $506,000 in 570 scholarship awards, the highest dollar amount ever awarded in the College’s 34-year history.
“Our foundation provides vital support for students and programs, where the funding is not available from the state,” said Elissa Oransky, executive director of the IVC Foundation. “Receiving a scholarship gives [students] the message that someone else believes in them and their dream. In some cases, it makes the difference between continuing on and giving up.”
The scholarship awards are distributed to students at an annual ceremony that also honors donors for their generous contributions to the educational dreams of the students who receive awards.
