Irvine Valley College student Ethan Manafi assumed the
position of Student Trustee for the South Orange County Community College
District (SOCCCD) on July 21. Ethan will serve in the Student Trustee role for
the 2020-2021 academic year.
Ethan, who is majoring in human biology and society with a
minor in gender studies, will serve as Student Trustee to represent the
students of both IVC and Saddleback College.
“I am honored to serve as Student Trustee for the 2020- 2021
academic year. I have many goals associated with amplifying the student voice
and advocating for the issues that students care about most,” said Ethan.
Ethan plans to hit the ground running to accomplish the
following initiatives and goals:
with both associated student governments to improve the campus environments.

In addition to working hard as Student Trustee, Ethan
plans to remain actively involved in his many volunteer activities, which
include helping to address homelessness in the community and increasing access
to healthcare through his work with Kaiser Permanente and the campus Health
Resource Center. Ethan will
also continue to remain involved in IVC club activities that are available and
will keep up with his hobbies, such as freelance photography.
During the continued stay-at-home order and the projected
months of online class offerings for the majority of students, Ethan will have
the task of connecting with SOCCCD students through creative and innovative
ways, while the campuses remain closed.
